On a Wednesday, it had been a pretty relaxed morning, because we were waiting for more supplies so we could continue to paint the church that we had been working on. While I was waiting, I decided to take a nap because I was extremely exhausted. In the middle of my nap, I got woken up to being told that I was to go evangelize with a few others. I honestly didn’t want to go.

However, before we went, we had a listening prayer. During the prayer, God showed me a blue house, yellow flowers, and a black chihuahua looking thing. I have a wild imagination so I was trying to convince myself that it wasn’t God speaking to me and that it was just me being me. A fellow squad member of mine got the words, “jersey, broken, and piercings.”

As we were walking through the community, we got to meet so many beautiful people and pray over them. We soon started to make our way to a blue house that was at the end of the street. On our way, we stumbled across this bakery that was way too good looking to pass up, so we stopped. The baker who was serving us had these huge gage piercings. As we noticed this, his brother walks out in a jersey. When we notice that, that black chihuahua looking thing runs across our path. The same one that I saw in my head. We took that as a God moment and prayed over the baker, his family, and the bakery. As we conversed with them, the fellow squad member that I mentioned earlier got the feeling that the brothers’ relationship was broken.

As we continued to venture toward the blue house, we came across a garden. In the middle of this garden was this singular plant that was blossoming yellow flowers. We took that as a God moment, and on our way to knock on the owner’s door, an elderly lady pops out of her window. It turns out that her husband is in the hospital, so we got to pray over her, her family, and her home. After that, I didn’t feel led to continue on to the blue house. The blue house was just God leading us to the bakery and the garden.

On our way back from evangelizing, we passed by this house that kept giving me anxiety every time we would pass it. I told everyone to stop and pray over that house and then felt a sense of peace wash over me.

That Wednesday reminded me of a story in Luke 8.

Luke 8:40-48

On the other side of the lake the crowds welcomed Jesus, because they had been waiting for him. Then a man named Jairus, a leader of the local synagogue, came and fell at Jesus’ feet, pleading with him to come home with him. His only daughter, who was about twelve years old, was dying.
As Jesus went with him, he was surrounded by the crowds. A woman in the crowd had suffered for twelve years with constant bleeding, and she could find no cure. Coming up behind Jesus, she touched the fringe of his robe. Immediately, the bleeding stopped.
    “Who touched me?” Jesus asked.
Everyone denied it, and Peter said, “Master, this whole crowd is pressing up against you.”
But Jesus said, “Someone deliberately touched me, for I felt healing power go out from me.” When the woman realized that she could not stay hidden, she began to tremble and fell to her knees in front of him. The whole crowd heard her explain why she had touched him and that she had been immediately healed.
“Daughter,” he said to her, “your faith has made you well. Go in peace.”

Jesus was interruptible. He stopped His journey to Jairus’s house to find out who had touched Him and blessed her. Jesus was always willing to be interrupted and He is calling us to be the same. He first interrupted my nap so I could share His love with others. Secondly, He interrupted our thoughts so we would be able to see His signs unfold. Then, He interrupted our way back home so we could bless a home.

Be interruptible. Be willing to step outside of your comfort zone. Be willing to say “Hey, this needs to happen now.” God will show you incredible things. He will bless people through you. He will use you to draw people closer to Him. Have the courage.

     Be interruptible.
