Wow! So many things have happened since training camp.

The day before we were supposed to launch for Nicaragua, we had someone who tested positive for Covid and that delayed our departure for at least nine extra days, as long as everyone did their part in quarantine. We spent those nine days in a deserted campground, thirty minutes away from base camp. There we could roam free, take hot showers, control the heat, and take care of business on a flushing toilet. We finished our training there and grew closer to one another. It was really a blessing in disguise.

However, it was there that we found that Nicaragua had closed its borders. It was also there that we found that someone had broken into one of our rooms so we have to evacuate the premises and go back to shipping container showers, and portable potties. A lot of anxiety and uncertainty shadowed the squad.

When we got back to base camp, we got the good news that we were to be launching to Costa Rica instead! So, as soon as our quarantine period was over, we took a plane to Costa Rica.

Now, I am in the most beautiful place I’ve ever beheld. Staying among the clouds, on a farm, placed on a mountain. Our host spoils us with three full meals a day AND two snack times in between those. I feel completely blessed and completely ridiculous for worrying.

I am the type of person who’d prefer to know the details; where are we going? What are we gonna do when we get there? However, on day three of being away from home, God had put the words, “Be still” on my heart. I didn’t know what that meant until I was amidst all of the chaos and uncertainty. I was then reminded of chapter four of the book of Mark.

Mark 4:39-41

He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, “Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?” They were terrified and asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!”

If only I had had faith and trusted that God would provide, if only I had been still in the presence of the Lord, I would have saved my head so much aching. He not only provided for me, for us, but He took us to such a beautiful place, where God has become my favorite artist. I feel so blessed. So don’t waste your time worrying. Trust in the Lord because He won’t just provide for you, sometimes we have the honor of being spoiled by Him.
